In pharmacies and drugstores, the growing interest in aromatherapy is noticeable; customers want more in-depth advice on topics such as virus protection, difficulty falling asleep, menopausal symptoms, etc. Aromatherapy, as a subfield of phytotherapy, can provide natural support in all phases of life and for many everyday ailments in home care using essential oils, gentle organic plant waters, and organic care oils, and is a suitable addition to many sales conversations.
What awaits you?
- You will learn about the use of aromatherapy for everyday ailments and how aromatherapy fits into the overall picture of phytotherapeutic or complementary medical methods.
- They will be trained in the basic, low-risk handling of essential oils.
- They learn the monographs of the most important essential oils and fatty carrier oils used in aromatherapy and sales, as well as hydrosols; they know the corresponding source plants, the basic chemical characterization and the (side) effects.
- You will be empowered to make product and application recommendations in a consultation and within your scope of competence.
- They will be made aware of the special considerations regarding the recommendation of essential oils during vulnerable phases of life and will be able to suggest alternatives.
Who is this course intended for?
- You work in a pharmacy or are a trained druggist (CH) in customer service.
- The specialist training qualifies participants to provide sound advice on aromatherapy measures (aromatherapy products and applications) for home use within the framework of a phytotherapeutic product range.

- The two in-person days can be attended in a hybrid format, either from home via Teams or on-site in Uster. The focus webinars will be attended online by all participants.
- Time required for self-study: 2-3 hours are needed for preparation, plus follow-up work; plan for a total of 7 hours of self-study per blended learning module (as these count as relevant learning hours for SDV and the Austrian Chamber of Pharmacists).
- Recordings of the evening modules are collected in a folder and can be viewed if necessary. The in-person Hybrid Basic and Chemistry sessions are NOT available as recordings and cannot be viewed . It is possible to transfer sessions to the next course group.
- For the final confirmation, the online learning objective check (final exam) must be completed within two weeks after the second day of in-person attendance (rescheduling is possible in case of scheduling conflicts).

Components of in-person and e-learning
The course combines in-person seminars with a digital learning platform within a blended learning concept. The in-person sessions are supplemented by modern e-learning methods. Participants can flexibly complete individual learning phases within a defined timeframe. In addition, there are short learning assessments and the opportunity to contact the instructors with any further questions.
This combination of structured self-study phases and interactive classroom modules allows for individual adaptation to personal learning pace and existing knowledge. All learning elements are didactically coordinated, ensuring that participants experience significant added value in their learning process through a clear structure and targeted tasks.

The language of instruction is either Standard German or Swiss German, depending on the instructor. Upon request of individual participants, each seminar can be conducted in Standard German; this will be clarified at the beginning of each seminar.
