Melaleuca alternifolia
The genus Melaleuca comprises approximately 170 species and belongs to the Myrtaceae family (along with eucalyptus and myrtle). The Australian tea tree has become a victim of its own success. Its properties are so diverse and compelling that it has become the most well-known essential oil in the world. This fame has led to immense use, resulting in ecological abuses in production and many dubious tea tree products on the market. This makes it all the more important to purchase a high-quality essential oil.

The psychological effects of tea tree oil
In aromatherapy, tea tree essential oil is also valued for its anxiety-reducing and mood-enhancing properties.
The physical effects of tea tree oil
Tea tree oil has diverse antimicrobial properties with a broad spectrum of activity. In aromatherapy, it is recommended for foot and nail fungi, as well as for deterring head lice. Only use very fresh tea tree oil for skin applications; after 9-12 months, depending on storage, it becomes highly irritating to the skin. Always follow the dilution table (0.5-1%).
