Introduction to Aromatherapy: Long-term Care (QFOC03)
Gain a first insight into aromatherapy in long-term care.
Do you work in long-term care and want to acquire the fundamentals and framework for the professional application of essential oils, carrier oils, and hydrosols? This seminar package, consisting of two days of in-person instruction and one day of guided self-study, will introduce you to professional aromatherapy in a long-term care setting.
What awaits you?
- On the first day of the course and during the self-study phase, we will familiarize you with the general basic knowledge for the sensible and safe use of essential oils, fatty vegetable oils and hydrosols.
- On the second day of the course, we focus on a mix of theory and practical applications. You will learn about the framework for professional aromatherapy applications, providing initial guidance for long-term care. Module 1 can be credited towards the certificate and diploma courses.
Learning objectives
- They delve into the basic knowledge for the sensible and safe application of essential oils, fatty vegetable oils and hydrosols.
- You will learn about a selection of essential oils and applications that play a special role in the context of long-term care for the elderly.
- They learn about individual aromatherapy measures, which they also try out in practice.
- They train your sense of smell.
- You will learn about the framework for professional aromatherapy applications in long-term care and thus receive guidance for introducing aromatherapy in the long-term care setting.
- They learn about general precautionary measures regarding the sensitive life phase of old age and multimorbidity.
- They will learn about selected application areas of the Evelyn Deutsch by farfalla line and will be able to perform simple applications with ready-made mixtures in their professional environment.

Exceptions to the entry requirements are possible in justified cases. In such cases, please submit a written application with a letter of motivation.

On-site and e-learning components
The course combines classroom seminars with a digital learning platform as part of a blended learning concept. This allows for independent study of the content and promotes a flexible and practical learning approach.
The face-to-face courses are supplemented by modern e-learning methods. This structured approach increases the proportion of guided self-study phases, allowing for more flexible scheduling of the courses.
Participants can work through individual learning phases flexibly within a set timeframe. In addition, there are short assessments and the opportunity to contact the instructors for further questions.
This combination of structured self-study and interactive classroom modules allows for individual adaptation to the student's personal learning pace and existing prior knowledge. All learning elements are didactically coordinated, ensuring that participants experience significant added value in their learning process through a clear structure and targeted tasks.

The language of instruction is either Standard German or Swiss German, depending on the instructor. Upon request of individual participants, each seminar can be conducted in Standard German; this will be clarified at the beginning of each seminar.
